Sick and sicker

An awful virus has been working its way through my house for the past two weeks. It started with my youngest, then moved onto my oldest, and then late last week as I sat in the pediatrician's office for the second time being told it was only a viral infection, I started to feel that familiar tickle in the back of my throat. Within a few hours I had a fairly high fever, and was sneezing and coughing non stop. Here we are 8 days later and while I no longer have a sore throat or a fever, I am coughing fairly often, am having difficulty breathing (lifelong asthmatic--it is normally controlled, but this virus settled in my chest early on and is still hanging out there) and feel pretty run down. The kids are *finally starting to look and feel better, thankfully.

The last time I stepped foot in the gym was nine days ago. Since then I've had my period and gained three pounds. No matter how much sleep I get, I am exhausted by around 3, and yesterday I felt like I was about to get a migraine. I panicked and overdosed on caffeine, which was not a smart move. The crash was UGLY at the end of the day, but at least I avoided the migraine!

I hope to be back to 100% by Monday so I can get back to the gym and start eating properly again. When I'm feeling crappy, all I want is carbs. I've not allowed myself to abandon protein completely, but it's definitely not been the highest on my list. Today I've done better, and I'm actually looking forward to a poached egg as my sixth small meal a little later.

I'm behind on my blog reading...hope y'all are doing well!

OH my goodness, we just went through the exact same thing (cept 3 out of 4 of us had strep...ick, I just had a "virus" but it was NO fun!) Sorry you are going through the same thing. I hope it passes quickly and you can get back to feeling better AND your workout routine. In the meantime rest up, you need it!
